Enrichment Programming

Club Create+Communicate

Club C+C is the place for getting creative, expanding social skills & building friendships.

Groups of students meet for 30 minutes during recess in the Media Arts Center where they have access to all kinds of activities & materials…

  • LEGO sets
  • Play-Doh
  • Sketchbooks
  • KiWiCo STEAM kits (e.g. Colorful Chemistry)
  • Ukuleles
  • Guitar
  • Keyboard
  • Percussive instruments (e.g. shakers)

Some students enjoy writing stories on PCs. Others love to search for images of their favorite characters & print them.

No matter the interest, Club C+C has something for everyone.

Because social skills are an important part of this club, programming is led by a licensed speech pathologist. Goal areas include…

  1. Peer entry/exit skills
  2. Expressing own preferences
  3. Giving compliments
  4. Asking for help
  5. Taking turns
  6. Developing friendship networks
  7. Conversation skills

At the end of each session, students share what they’ve been working on with the whole group.

Club C+C has received past financial support from the Dana Open Presented by Marathon, Greater Toledo Community Foundation (Katherine R. Smith Funds for Youth), & Autism Speaks (Local Impact Grant).
