Be a STAR!
In our Skills Training and Academic Recovery (STAR) program every student shines with success!1
STAR is a four-week summer learning experience open to any student currently enrolled at the Autism Model School.
The next session of STAR begins on July 1st, 2025.
STAR Power
Standout features of our summer program include…
- Small group Direct Instruction (DI) courses for math, reading, and language
- Innovative career experiences like our e-commerce job lab
- Continuity of services between school year and summer learning
We offer all this at no charge to families.
Why STAR?
We launched STAR in 2021 to begin to address learning losses linked to school closures from the pandemic. That summer, we offered 12 hours of in-person learning each week.
This was bumped up to 30 hours per week the following year.
A student who attends our regular school year program and STAR will receive 37% more instructional hours than required by Ohio’s Department of Education and Workforce.
STAR Supporters
The following partners have committed funds to support our 2025 STAR Summer Learning Program:
- Stranahan Supporting Organization, Greater Toledo Community Foundation
- School Improvement Grant, Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
- Elsie and Harry Baumker Foundation
We’re so grateful for these partnerships. They’ll make a lasting impact in the lives of our students.
