ARP IDEA Part B (Special Ed Funding)
9/6/2022
RP IDEA Part B Special Education funds will be used to enhance instruction through the continued internal development of a specialized curriculum, and related software component, to support flexible, personalized learning. This project will provide access to educational software which contains customizable lesson plans for a variety of targeted skills. Features will include the use of text, pictures, audio and video embedded in step-by-step task sequences, and comprehensive data collection and reporting elements. Evidence-based methods for instructing students with developmental disabilities have informed the design of the specialized curriculum and software platform. Our plan aligns with provisions allowed in IDEA Part B in the following areas: (a) Instruction – “appropriate instructional supplies and materials designed to increase student achievement. ..increasing access to and progress in the general curriculum,” “cost of instructional materials and media…(computer programs)…related to the instruction of children with disabilities;” (b) Promising Practices – “costs associated with implementation of scientifically-based research practices…and programs designed that respond to a specific educational need identified by the district…[including] software;” (c) Assistive Technology – “state-of-the-art assistive technology…and software to enhance access to the general curriculum.” Our planned intervention will benefit all students enrolled in the district ages 5-21.
