Afterschool Program Update
Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, our Afterschool Astros program is not running at this time.
We will continue to seek financial support for this important program.
About the Astros
The Afterschool Astros was a grant-funded program of the Autism Model School. (Click here to read more about our funding partners.)
Sadly, autistic teenagers are often excluded from traditional afterschool programs due to their complex needs. By providing a 1-to-2 staff-to-youth ratio, however, we were able to provide a personalized afterschool experience for each student.
The Astros program offered a range of activities, including…
- academic enrichment for reading and math
- workforce skills practice
- art, physical education, and social-emotional learning opportunities
- fitness, recreation, and other positive youth development experiences
- family involvement events and learning pathways
