The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) outlines the rights and regulations for students with disabilities in the United States who require special education. Under IDEA, all children with disabilities are entitled to a Free Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
